After the news that the inland revenue has shot the UK film industry in the foot by getting rid of tax breaks for film investors, plus my continuing train of thought on 'guerilla' film-making, I've come to the conclusion that there should be a grassroots production and distribution house specialising in low-budget DV films. You could feasibly distribute shorts on CD-r at a low-cost, charging a couple of quid to cover expenses and make a lil profit. The important thing is to raise the profile of DV in the public eye, as well as on the 'culture' scene. If you get a grant you could even distribute the discs for free, travelling around the country, having booths at festivals and arthouse cinemas. Of course, I'm not in any position of set up such a company at the moment, but if anybody wants to steal my thunder they're quite welcome.
