Me and Jennie saw the American Splendor movie last night at chapter and it was cool. I must admit that I hadn't heard of either the comic or Harvey Pekar, but I had heard of Robert Crumb. I guess what it comes down to is that I have a periphery interest in underground comics, but don't actually own any. This is due more to financial constraints (Books are ultimately cheaper than comics and last longer), availability and ignorance more than anything else, although I have the same kind of thing with fanzines (What a brilliant concept! magazines made by ppl with xerox machines and imagination! Ooooh! How 'guerilla'! What do you mean I've missed the boat? born 5 years too late? Oh look, the world wide web...)

I recommend this film if you have any interest in the comic, or comics in general, or blue-collar neurotic creative types, or simply for the halloween-superhero opening sequence which I thought was fantastic. Plus, they might give you an American Splendor badge. I've got two! (I wish I was like you/easily amused) ^_^
