Hollywood has convinced Californian state politians (I wonder how they did that) to sponser a bill that would require anyone who sent "commercial recorded or audiovisual material over the Internet" to include their name and address with the file. ( via )
Ernest Miller, Yale 'cyber' (*bletch*) Law student extrodinaire, reckons it's not about collecting names, but about creating a new crime (refusing to give your name and address). You know what? I think he's right.
All I can say is, thank fuck I'm not an American, although to be honest that is getting less and less consoling each time I say it.
