I'm sat in the most perfect cafe called Scarlett's in Newport, an American style diner with red vinyl seating and spot lighting hanging from the nicotine stained ceiling. Pictures of dead movie stars line the walls between huge mirrored tiles. When I say 'american style' I mean only looks wise, the menu is standard british working class fare; all day breakfasts, steak and kidney pie, jacket potatoes. This place is a wonderful clash of kitch culture. The breakfast ain't nothing special (the sausages let it down) but I could sit in the window drinking coffee and people watching for hours.
It's on high st., if yr in the area and fancy the experience.
