I'm flicking through cable at an alarming rate, making split second decisions concerning programme choices based on my amazing skill at such things when I decide, on a whim, to flick it over to MTV, expecting to find another Britney Spears special (she sure do got a pretty mouth...) but being greeted by MTV news. I watch for a while... *blah* *blah*... when suddenly I spy the little scroller at the bottom of the screen. "Morrissey has persuaded the New York Dolls to reform for a one off show".

Really?

It's true. Morrissey has pursuaded the surviving members of the New York Dolls to reform to play the meltdown festival in london, for which he is artistic director, or something.

The New York Dolls were members of the original NY punk scene and look like something out of a Hubert Selby Jr. novel (Last exit to Brooklyn, to be precise) and sound like it too, kinda.

And personality crisis is a fucking awesome song.

I dunno if this is exactly good news, but it's certainly of interest.
