is ecstasy's honeymoon over?
From anecdotal evidence gathered by my self I'd have to say no. It definately no longer has the mystique it once had, and as this article confirms pills are much cheaper, but people are still taking them. I was at a goth club night at the weekend and many a person I knew was either on them or looking for them. I would argue that the subculture X traditionally found its home in, that of the weekend clubber, has merely fallen out of favour. Personally, I'd rather drop in a flat with some friends then do it in a club, and I know many people who feel the same. To say that Ecstasy is dying out just because mainstream clubbers are turning to Charley is a little naive.
Although this article is from janurary of this year, the trend it is commenting on, the rise in the popularity of cocaine, is clearly visable even now, as is the falling out of favour of cheap hashish and the migration to grass in Britain. This is arguably be due to the increase in homegrown being produced here.
