Melissa Panarello and '100 Strokes of the Brush Before Bed'

Panarello is an 18 year old italian writer who in the autobiographical diaryesque novel 100 Strokes of the Brush Before Bed recounts her sexual exploits during her teenage years. It is written in a frank and honest manner, lacking any real narrative structure (hence the diary format) and is extremely explict. There has been a bit of a scandal surrounding it's publication, moralists outraged by such frank sexual description from such a young girl, which has helped sales no end.

I love young, frank writers, especially ones that get published. Sacha would often push me in my teenage years to write an autobiographical novel and I gotta admit I was tempted by the idea and romanticism of it. Unfortunately, I was too much of a slacker druggie to be bothered. Sure, it would of been nice to get published as a kid, but it sure looked like a lot of hassle. I know I have at least one good autobiographical book in me, detailing my traffic accident and the resulting havok played on my life, personality and family, but have put it off time and time again knowing that I lacked the distance and objective insight that would be required to put it into the wider context that I felt it required, in order to balance out the detailed subjective insight I knew I was capable of providing at the time. I tried on a couple of occasions to start writing it, but have always felt that my words just weren't right. This is why I haven't posted such a thing on here, have only hinted at a severe head trauma, because I'm waiting until I'm ready to do the story justice. You can rest assured that when I start writing it I will be posting numerous excerpts here on l∅ckedinab∅x
